    day 25: illustrator self-portrait

following the themes of making avatars and learning illustrator, i
drew a self-portrait illustrator based on a photograph:

i traced over the photograph and made adjustments where i thought it
    made sense to.

That is awesome! Much better than my attempt last year at emphasizing edges and limiting the pallette.

You only traced? How did you pick the colors? My attempts at reduced palettes always result sin extremely flat results.

richard, thanks so much for your comments! i like your re-attempt too!
i used the pen tool to trace outlines from the photograph. i originally tried picking a few colors from the photo, but didn't like them (not vivid enough), so i just ended up choosing my own colors. also, i didn't intend to replicate the sunset background originally, but liked the palette since i was tracing over the photo and decided to go w/ something similar...

i'm excited to be doing tad for the 4th year in a row! i don't have any grand plans or a theme planned this year but want to try making a variety of things, similar to projects i have done in the past: plush toys, refashioned garments, sculpey figurines, photography, drawings and illustrations, and other miscellaneous things i've been meaning to do/wanting to try.
